about

Cloak & Filler. Eight songs about living and dying in a red state addressed to an unidentified "they" and one more song about leaving. These songs were old when I recorded them and ancient history by the time I released them (making myself look like a real unpleasant dude in the process). I guess these are just the kind of songs that trickle out eventually when you grow up listening to too much Bad Religion.

Track Name: The "Just My Luck" Blues
If there is so much to live for...
Tell me, how dome it's so hard to stay alive
Because it's a great time to feel just fine,
But we all just ain't that type

Together, down on our luck
Because it is so hard to come by
Well, it's a new chance tonight to get things right
Well, the odds they ain't never on my side

Because the light behind your eyes -
Well, it never shined so bright -
As it did the day that you left town
The moon, the stars, the sky
They couldn't bring you to my side
So, go on and lay me down

---

Because the light behind your eyes -
Well, it never burned so bright -
As it did the day that you left town
The moon, the stars, the sky -
Couldn't keep you by my side
So, go on and lay me down
Track Name: Good Morning, Good Night
Sunset, sunrise
Sounds like another killing tonight
A plan devised
From sea to shining sea

Good morning, good night
We promise you won't feel a thing
So, just rest your weary eyes
Let go, fall fast asleep

Neither wrong nor right,
It's simply the American Way
A plan devised
We'll get rid of the bodies and leave

It's this honest work for our honest lives
This is exactly what Our God would like
So, just rest your weary eyes -
Now, this is your chance to be free
